An InsiderAdvantage survey of 800 likely voters in South Carolina’s upcoming Republican Primary, conducted Feb 14-15, shows Donald Trump with a substantial lead over Nikki Haley. The poll has a Margin of Error of 3.92%.
NOTE: South Carolina requires that candidates who file to run must withdraw by January 2, 2024 or their names will remain on the ballot. This survey included all names that will appear on the GOP primary ballot. Of those names only Donald Trump, Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis received one or more percent support in the survey. In the below results DeSantis and all other candidates are listed as “Other.”
The results:
Nikki Haley: 38%
Donald Trump: 60%
Other: 1%
Undecided: 1%
InsiderAdvantage’s Matt Towery: “It looks highly unlikely that Nikki Haley can overtake Donald Trump in this contest. Moreover, it will be a stretch for her to cross into the forty-percentile area. Her numbers are a bit stronger than expected due to a robust, but underreported, effort by PACs and others to recruit Democrats who did not participate in the Democratic primary, along with independents, to vote in the GOP contest. Our survey indicates that this effort may have some impact but will be unlikely provide any major boost for Haley. She will likely lose the state where she once served as governor and the results, even if she moves into the low forty-percent range, will likely provide her little assistance or momentum in the onslaught of Super Tuesday states that will quickly follow.”
