The Cobb County Board of Commissioners recently approved a $7.8 million extension of the Silver Comet Trail that will bring it all the way to the Chattahoochee River near Smyrna. From there, a series of smaller trails will connect directly into the Beltline, which is working its own way up towards the river from the other side. That means that the Silver Comet Trail will soon link directly with Atlanta’s most popular path, connecting it to Cobb, Polk, and Paulding Counties and going all the way to Alabama. Mercer hack exposes nearly 100,000
Georgia is the cybersecurity capital of the Southeast – and possibly of the entire U.S. – but it is far from safe from cyber attacks. Mercer University, in Macon, is the target of two federal lawsuits alleging that the school did not do enough to keep personal information safe ahead of a major data breach that led to more than 93,000 people having their personal data leaked online. The hack occurred in February but individuals were notified in May that their personal information, including Social Security numbers and driver’s license numbers may have been compromised. One suit says the attack was “highly foreseeable” and that the school didn’t do enough to prevent it, and was too slow to alert individuals who had their information leaked.
