Literacy in Georgia became a top priority among lawmakers during the 2023 session of the General Assembly. Several bills aimed at addressing the issue were introduced, but one crossed the finish line and established the Georgia Council on Literacy – SB 211 by Sen. Billy Hickman, R-Statesboro.
