A proposed $2B mixed-use development in south Forsyth County would be larger than the Battery Atlanta and include 1.6 million square feet of commercial and retail space, a 100,000 square foot community center, a 7,500 square foot fire station, 450 hotel rooms with meeting spaces and residential units to help support the project.  But the crown jewel would be a 750,000 square foot arena featuring nearly 18,000 seats – could it be the home of a rumored NHL expansion bid?  The project, backed by auto-dealer Vernon Krause, seeks to create a regional mixed-use hub in Forsyth similar to the Battery in Cobb or Avalon in Alpharetta.  But could the ambitious project help lure a professional hockey team back to the city that it left for a second time in 2011?
