The ongoing saga at DeKalb County’s “Cop City” took a deadly turn Tuesday when a state trooper was shot by a protester who was then killed in the ensuing shootout. The wounded officer is in stable condition. Cop City, the site of a proposed law enforcement training facility in a wooded area of unincorporated DeKalb County, has been the site of great controversy over the past year. Clashes between protesters – some claiming to be environmentalists and others opposed to police – have gotten more and more violent, with six arrested last month and hit with domestic terrorism charges. Political has-beens take taxpayer-paid vacation
Former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan and ex-Sen. Butch Miller, along with 12 others including “security” personnel, wasted hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on a so-called European “economic study” junket— just two months before the two left office. New Lt. Gov. Burt Jones’ spokeswoman best summed up this selfish trip: “The lieutenant governor (Duncan’s replacement) finds it disheartening that two outgoing elected officials would take a taxpayer-funded European vacation knowing they will have zero influence on future economic development opportunities.” Duncan, Miller and their fellow shameless vacationers are SINKING…
