The Hyundai Metaplant America, which broke ground in October outside of Savannah, is the largest corporate investment in state history. With a $1.8 billion incentive package, state officials are banking on its success to justify those massive tax breaks. Early returns are quite positive, as this week a key Hyundai supplier announced its own plans to open a Georgia facility nearby in Bulloch County. Ecoplastic Corporation, a South Korean manufacturer of automobile parts that has long worked hand in hand with Hyundai, will open a $205 million plant that will employ close to 500 workers. Ecoplastic becomes the third supplier to announce a Georgia branch since the Hyundai announcement, adding thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars of investment to Coastal Georgia – which is rapidly becoming one of the nation’s premier electric vehicle hotspots.
