The COVID-19 pandemic took a huge toll on the nursing industry across the nation, and Georgia was no exception.  Hospitals have had to scramble to fill holes in the nursing shortage, which still has tens of thousands of vacancies.  Piedmont, one of the state’s largest healthcare systems, has taken a novel approach to address the challenge, creating its own internal staffing agency to ensure that clinical staff can be brought in, even if just on a limited basis, to ensure that coverage is maintained.
