In 2019 it was major news when it was found that Cobb County healthcare sterilization company Sterigenics may have been producing ethylene oxide into the surrounding area, a chemical linked by the FDA to causing cancer.  Local officials quickly jumped into the situation, forcing the plant to temporarily close, commit to strict air testing, and eventually reopen.  This week an Illinois jury ruled that Sterigenics should pay $363 million in damages for exposing her to that same chemical, which she claimed gave her breast cancer.  Part of the payment is for decades of pollution emitted from the company’s former Willowbrook facility.  Could the ruling bring new life to the Cobb situation?  It certainly has longtime residents of South Cobb DRIFTING…
