U.S. Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-GA) believes land banks provide critical opportunities to bring economic growth to local communities – especially in rural areas. Last week, Ferguson, chief deputy whip of the House Republican Conference, joined U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee (D-MI), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, in introducing the National Land Bank Network Act.

According to Ferguson, this bipartisan legislation would create a national network to provide resources, technical assistance, and grants to help land banks nationwide implement best practices. This network, he says, would also help communities create their own land banks.
