Recent reports from the National Consumer Law Center and Electronic Privacy Information Centers show that over 33 million scam robocalls are made to Americans every day. And it’s costing the victims a lot of money. An estimated $29.8 billion was stolen through scam calls in 2021 – and most of this scam robocall calls originate overseas.

In order to cut down on illegal robocalls in the state, Attorney General Chris Carr announced late last week that Georgia has joined a nationwide Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force to investigate and take legal action against the telecommunications companies responsible for bringing a majority of foreign robocalls into the United States. According to Carr, this is a 50-state bipartisan Task Force.
