Republican lieutenant governor candidate Burt Jones won a big legal victory this week when Fulton Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney granted his motion to disqualify Fulton County Democrat District Attorney Fani Willis from having her special grand jury investigate him. Willis openly hosted a fundraiser to raise money for Jones’ Democrat opponent Charlie Bailey, which the judge said shows obvious bias against her intended grand jury target.

Jones was one among a coterie of alternative Electoral College electors for the President Donald Trump who were selected in a December 14, 2020 meeting to act as “placeholders” should an ongoing Trump lawsuit questioning the presidential vote count were to prevail.
