Former state Rep. Jeff Lewis, currently challenging incumbent state Sen. Chuck Hufstetler, R-Rome, in the GOP primary, finds his campaign potentially on ice this week after an administrative court judge recommended that he be disqualified for not filing proper campaign disclosure reports. Lewis was found not to have filed any reports since 2012, but still had some $75,000 in his campaign account which has been unaccounted for since. Lewis is challenging the ruling, which goes to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office, but his odds of remaining on the ballot are SINKING…
Mercer hack exposes nearly 100,000
Georgia is the cybersecurity capital of the Southeast – and possibly of the entire U.S. – but it is far from safe from cyber attacks. Mercer University, in Macon, is the target of two federal lawsuits alleging that the school did not do enough to keep personal information safe ahead of a major data breach that led to more than 93,000 people having their personal data leaked online. The hack occurred in February but individuals were notified in May that their personal information, including Social Security numbers and driver’s license numbers may have been compromised. One suit says the attack was “highly foreseeable” and that the school didn’t do enough to prevent it, and was too slow to alert individuals who had their information leaked.
