Georgia House Bill 617, passed earlier this year, set the stage for college athletes in the state to accept endorsement deals and profit from their name and likeness.  How that law, which mirrors those passed in many other states, will impact the collegiate landscape remains to be seen – but some UGA athletes are already getting on board.  Apparel brand Onward Reserve will sign star freshman quarterback Brock Vandagriff as soon as the bill becomes law on July 1st, and has approached several other UGA athletes.  Other companies and endorsements for more UGA athletes are sure to follow.  Love it or hate it, a new era of college sports is upon us, and the ship for high-profile Georgia student athletes, and particularly UGA football players, is certainly RISING…
