This weekend will be a car lover’s dream come true! Car enthusiasts will have the chance to participate in a classic car show and a tour of the Memory Lane Car Museum during weekend festivities in Hiwassee. The weekend promises to be one of a kind, according to Preston “KO for Certain” Haliburton – who will serve as commentator for some of the festivities.
The Memory Lane Car Museum is “the dream child” of Jerry and June Smith — whose relationship began with a shared childhood passion has matured into one of the largest car collections in the southeast. The Memory Lane collection features cars from 1913 to 2005, and each and every one is American made.
The Classic Car Show kicks off on Friday, April 30 at the Memory Lane Classic Car Museum and moves to the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 1. This two-day event features fun for the whole family and will include music, food trucks, arts and crafts, an auction, prizes and two raffles.
There will be a live auction will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 2 p.m. at Eller Holler Stage.
The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds are located in Hiawassee, Georgia at 1311 Music Hall Road, Hiawassee. The Memory Lane Classic Car Museum is located at 1195 Jack Dayton Circle, Young Harris.
Spectator admission is $10 per person. Children 12 and under are free!
As an added feature, country music singer Josh Turner will be in concert right at the Fairgrounds Saturday evening.
Haliburton will be giving the history of the classic cars and the collection. He says he will bring his “upbeat boxing commentator model” as he talks about the history of the cars on display.
