At a meeting of the Stone Mountain Memorial Association board, presided over by new chairman Rev. Abraham Moseley, changes were proposed to alter the Confederate character of the state’s largest tourist attraction. Opponents particularly don’t like the giant mountain carving of Confederate leaders, but a 2001 law bans removing or altering the memorial to fallen Confederate soldiers. A 2019 law also bans relocating or defacing historical monuments and symbols owned by the state. Whatever proposals are considered, for now, will have to abide by the law.
