Leading up to the Masters this week, Augusta’s Paine College on Tuesday honored Lee Elder, the first black man to play in the tournament, with an honorary doctorate recognizing his lifetime achievement.  The award also comes with scholarships to be endowed to Paine in Elder’s name, as well as financial assistance from Augusta National to start the women’s golf program at the school.  A great recognition for a key figure in Masters history – as we prepare to tee off on Thursday Elder’s ship is RISING…
