A massive storm swept through Coweta County over the weekend, with a massive EF-4 level tornado doing catastrophic damage to downtown Newnan, damaging homes and businesses and leaving schools closed this week. Gov. Brian Kemp and other state officials toured Newnan High School Saturday, urging support and warning against the type of scammers who pop up after natural disasters. U.S. Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-3), whose district was impacted by the storms, visited the Coweta County 911 Center over the weekend and donated supplies to first responders. Said Ferguson on the storms, “In the midst of the destruction, we are seeing the fortitude that exists here in Coweta County. People are shining through. Volunteers are coming to help this community recover, and I’m confident we can and will rebuild stronger than ever.” If any of our readers have been affected by the recent storms, you can find more resources and assistance by visiting ready.gov or by calling Rep. Ferguson’s Washington, D.C. Office at (202)-225-5901. If you would like to help out in the recovery process, please visit cowetafoundation.org/donate.
