One of Georgia’s seven natural wonders, Radium Springs is a major draw in Dougherty County. Local officials are working to further incorporate the springs and its surrounding gardens into the greater Albany area, recently acquiring some 84 acres to connect county land with the eventual goal of extending a trail from downtown Albany to the Radium Springs area. Dougherty County has been acquiring properties in the Radium Springs area in the late 1990’s, aided by state funding over the years. Development plans were interrupted by the deadly 2017 tornado that swept through the area, but efforts are back on track to help further link the beautiful park to the city.
