An entire new agricultural industry springing up essentially overnight, predictably, comes with quite a few hoops to jump through.  That’s what farmers and industry workers have had to deal with following the legalization of the growing of industrial hemp in 2018 with the passage of the Farm Bill.

This Summer, as the licensing and regulatory details were finally hammered out, farmers began actually growing hemp, and are now learning the ins and outs of the versatile crop.

Dr. Timothy Coolong of the of University of Georgia’s School of Agriculture sat down with Georgia CEO this week to discuss the hurdles and benefits of industrial hemp, and how UGA is collaborating with farmers to learn more about the crop and how to best grow it.
