News came down from U.S. Attorney BJay Pak’s office Wednesday that Atlanta City Councilman Antonio Brown has been indicted on multiple fraud charges, mainly stemming from taking out loans and making major credit card purchases (including $60,000 for a car) and then claiming he was the victim of identity theft and was not responsible for the charges or repaying the loans. Perhaps not the best laid plan, if Brown is found guilty – and recipients of Pak’s indictments usually are – he’s looking at some serious prison time – and his political career is undoubtedly SINKING…
MLK’s legacy lives on
Last week Atlanta officials unveiled a new Martin Luther King, Jr. statue near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, titled “Hope Moving Forward.” Soon the Rodney Cook Sr. Peace Park will similarly memorialize King’s legacy. And most notably, later today Sen.-elect Raphael Warnock will be in the pulpit at Ebenezer Baptist Church to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Warnock, when sworn in next week, will become the first black Senator ever elected in the state. As American’s remember King’s life today, his impact in Georgia can still be tangibly felt. RISING…
