Last week U.S. Sens. David Perdue (R-Ga.) and Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) announced that seven Georgia cities would be receiving federal aid as part of the CARES Act, which seeks to help small businesses hurt by COVID-19.  One of those cities is Valdosta, in South Georgia, which will see some $825K in the form of a “recovery assistance grant” via the Southern Georgia Regional Commission.  The SGRC will be in charge of identifying and getting money to businesses in need, which can be located in any of a set of 18 South Georgia counties.  Applications will go through a local loan board, skipping the federal level completely and helping make sure money gets out to businesses as soon as possible.
