Sea turtles didn’t seem to get the memo that things were shutting down during coronavirus, so neither did the work of the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (GSTC) on Jekyll Island, the only sea turtle center in the state.  The GSTC is responsible for education, research, rescue, and rehabilitation programs relating to sea turtles along Georgia’s coast, and while they could not stop caring for turtles, they did have to shut down visiting hours, their main source of revenue, during the pandemic.  Now reopened from 9am-5pm, the GSTC is getting back to full speed, but it never stopped its mission to protect one of the state’s most beautiful and treasured native species.
