Passing new congressional legislation and getting the Georgia Ports Authority to support it is the key to saving the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam, U.S. Rep. Rick Allen, R-Augusta, said on Monday.
In an interview with InsiderAdvantage Georgia CEO Phil Kent on Augusta radio station WGAC, Allen said he doesn’t think the Ports Authority– which he says has taken the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers position on the lock and dam– realizes the full impact of the plan to replace the aging structure with a rock weir.
