When Ted Turner, the founder of the Cable News Network, inaugurated the company’s first broadcast on June 1, 1980 he forever changed the way the world would receive television news and opinion programming. That’s why it’s fitting that the Georgia Historical Society just dedicated a new “Georgia Business History Initiative” marker at Atlanta’s CNN Center that recognizes Turner. The Society annually salutes Georgia companies in order to teach students, citizens and tourists about the pivotal role of the state’s business development. So we salute both the Georgia Historical Society for this worthy recognition and Turner for his visionary contribution 38 years ago. Their boats are RISING….
