This week not only marks the start of the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta— the hottest ticket in the sports world— but also the 59th annual Red Carpet Tour hosted by Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Economic Development. This year approximately three dozen 80 national and international business leaders and site selection consultants are invited for to be part of the tour, a premier event designed to showcase Georgia’s thriving business community for potential industrial locations or existing company expansion.
The most popular aspect of the tour are two stops at the Masters.
Since its inception, the Red Carpet Tour has generated over $3.2 billion in revenue for the state, and an estimated 15,000 jobs have been created through the location or expansion of companies whose executives have been guests on the statewide tour.
The four-day, invitation-only event traditionally begins in Atlanta with a briefing by the governor at the governor’s mansion. Guests are paired with an existing Georgia industry leader, which makes it easy for business prospects to receive first-hand accounts of what it’s like to operate a business in the Peach State.
