As the National Weather Service was calling for the potential of three-tenths of an inch of ice for Monday, the Wild Hog Supper, the traditional kick off to the legislative session, took place in Atlanta on Sunday. School and government office closings were starting to add up early in the evening and Nathan Deal made it official during his brief remarks at the supper – for the first day of the session, it’s essential employees only. Apparently that includes more than just those with Department of Transportation on their checks but it may make for a lighter than usual opening day at the Capitol.
