Many Republicans in state Senate District 6– which runs from Smyrna through part of Buckhead into Sandy Springs and then to east Cobb– are upset with their former state Sen. Hunter Hill. Rather than following through with his commitment to serve out the remainder of his term, he resigned so that he could continue receiving contributions in order to run for governor. Many say his decision to put his personal agenda first harmed the conservative cause in Georgia. It resulted in a  risky special election on Nov. 7 that included five Republican candidates. A fractured GOP vote in low-turn balloting resulted in two left-wing Democrats ending up in a runoff– and this despite the fact that the total GOP vote in the district  outnumbered the Democrat votes! It also cost the Senate GOP its key vote that ensured a two-thirds “supermajority.” For now, many of Hill’s former constituents say his boat is SINKING…
