As expected, Keisha Lance Bottoms and Mary Norwood secured spots to move to a runoff on December 5. Fulton County elections offices are notoriously slow, but as of midnight on Tuesday, Bottoms was running ahead of her polls at 28% and Norwood at 21%. For what it’s worth in defense of the elections snail that is Fulton County, it is the only county in the state with more than a million inhabitants and has a higher population than six states.

Norwood’s returns watching in Buckhead, her home territory, was packed with a diverse set of Atlantans. Indeed so diverse that few other candidates for any office in the state could probably claim as diverse a set of supporters.
