Monday marks the first meeting of the Senate Study Committee on Barriers to Georgians’ Access to Adequate Healthcare. The meeting will be in the Coverdell Legislative Offices Building across from the Capitol and will cover a range of background issues for the first meeting.

The Study Committee was created by Senate Resolution 188 and aims to address a number of problems in Georgia’s healthcare system. It was passed nearly unanimously, with only 2 no votes, and also had a Democrat stalwart co-sponsor, Senator Nan Orrock (D- 36 Atlanta). Senator Renee Unterman (R- 45 Buford), Chair of Health and Human Services, was the lead sponsor on the bill.
