The Georgia Department of Education has released a draft of the state’s plan for implementing the new federal education law — the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), and the public has 30 days to submit comments.
The draft is being posted publicly to give stakeholders time to review the plan and provide their feedback. The public-comment period will close on July 14, 2017. ESSA replaced the No Child Left Behind Act, which became law in 2002 under President George W. Bush.
