This year’s honoree as the 2018 Georgia Teacher of the Year is John R. Tibbetts, an economics teacher from Worth County High School in Sylvester. The Georgia Teacher of the Year Award is a great award but is merely trophy to take home. Tibbetts will be working with the Department of Education over the course of the next year in a number of different ways as an advocate, ambassador and consultant for public education in Georgia. Tibbetts will represent Georgia teachers as he speaks to the public about the profession, conducting development activities for other teachers, serving on committees and participating in conferences.
